To promote equity in education and improve instruction quality in refugee-hosting counties, Save the Children, in partnership with EYC and APHRC, advocates for the recognition and inclusion of refugee teachers in national teacher education and training platforms. We value the diversity they bring and their vital role in enriching learning. Ensuring refugee teachers have equal access to professional development opportunities alongside national teachers is key to fostering quality education and holistic skills development for refugee children.
The Coalition held a productive engagement meeting with refugee teachers in Kakuma, Turkana County on 27th February, 2025. A teachers” group committed to inclusivity, ensuring gender balance and representation of all nationalities in the refugee teachers community was formed. This is a step forward towards refugee teachers having access to same professional opportunities as national teachers, ensuring collective effort towards delivering excellence in teaching and learning.
