On May 20th, 2022 the National Media held a Tweet event. This was prompted by the need to address matters related to the transition to Junior Secondary School occasioned by the ‘’confusion’’ around the issue within the public domain. Participants drawn from education stakeholders discussed challenges to the process and the most immediate issue was on the absorption of about 2.5million learners transitioning to secondary school with about 50% transitioning from grade 6 of the CBC while the other half from the 8.4.4 system. The transition was also happening amidst congestion in secondary schools, inadequate teachers and the need to train teachers on how to manage the transition. EYC opined that the Ministry should develop guidelines to ensure smooth transition to Junior Secondary.
