Elimu Yetu Coalition (EYC), with support from GIZ under the project “Understanding the School Digital Ecosystem in 10 Counties in Kenya,” successfully convened a series of strategic county-level meetings from March 11th to 14th, 2025 across Kisii, Nyamira, Mandera, and Kericho counties. These targeted engagements were part of an ongoing initiative to develop County-Based ICT Advocacy Plans aimed at accelerating digital transformation in Kenya’s public education system.
Each meeting brought together a diverse range of education stakeholders, including County Directors of Education, civil society organizations, teacher leaders, and members of the County Education Network. Together, they worked to create tailored strategies that respond to the unique digital needs and opportunities within their counties.
The forums focused on addressing key gaps in ICT access and integration—such as limited availability of digital devices, poor internet connectivity, unreliable power supply, insufficient digital training for teachers, and low adoption of technology by learners. Stakeholders shared firsthand insights, identified barriers, and collectively proposed actionable, context-sensitive solutions.
The resulting ICT Advocacy Plans are intended to act as guiding frameworks for influencing county-level education policies, attracting investment, and reinforcing government commitment to digital inclusion. More than just policy documents, these plans represent a grassroots-driven effort to ensure that technology becomes a transformative force for equitable and quality education.
