EYC core mandate is to influence policy which makes engagement with policy makers a critical endevour. EYC organized policy forums in Nakuru and Taitataveta county with the view of improving ECDE at the county and also deliberating on some of the challenges and opportunities that present themselves with regards to ECDE at the county. This was supported by Education Out Loud funding to engage with policy makers
The opportunities for the County Education Networks to engage as highlighted during the policy forums were;
- Participate in Public participation to enhance development and meeting the specific needs of schools and community
- There is an opportunity to look at the counties County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) plans on ECDE and aligning themselves with the activities talking to the CIDP. It further helps in monitoring and holding the government to account
- Huge opportunity for research to address the gaps and inform government and stakeholders on improvement
