Elimu Yetu Coalition focuses on mobilizing and harnessing collective efforts to make Education for All (EFA) a reality in Kenya. In doing this, the coalition works in collaboration with County Education Networks (CENs) to track achievement and challenges in education sector at the grassroots and enable communities to engage in education processes at the county level.
County dialogue forum is a platform that bring together key education stakeholders including Ministry of Education, Teacher Service Commission, County Government (education department), County Gender office, teacher unions and civil society organizations among others to discuss the provision of education services within the county. The forum presents an opportunity for the stakeholders to highlight achievements, gaps and propose actions to address the identified gaps. EYC is carrying out a project on “Decreasing Gender Based Barriers to Adolescent Girls Education and Skills”. One of the projects’ objectives is enhanced community engagement in addressing Gender based barriers to Education.
It is on this background that EYC in partnership with selected County Education Networks planned for County Dialogue forums in 8 counties namely; Bungoma, West-pokot, Isiolo, Nyeri, Homabay, Narok, Wajr and Tanariver Counties to enable education stakeholders to discuss access, retention and transition; and especially as it affects girls at the upper primary level and as they move to secondary school including junior secondary.
